Admired And Inspired
Someone once asked me "Who's Nina Simone?"
The only way to explain her is through my poem
So here I go
Smoothly, I hope it flows
 
So close your eyes and imagine
Love and Loss is her passion
She croons with such happiness and sorrow
She sings about today and tomorrow
 
She'll take you to a higher ground
Somewhere, you can't be found
She sings Jazz and Blues
Tension, you will slowly lose
 
She sings along with her piano
Her voice is deep, soft and mellow
She echoes into the night
The lights are dimmed, not too bright
 
In every song, she sends a message
She pulls me through a lot of rough stages
Everyday, she's in my thoughts
Tears in my eyes, I've had to fight
 
Most of her music, I have related
Her words, so powerful and great
Let your mind wander
Stop...think...and ponder
 
You, she will lure!
Once you get to know her...
You'll know me
Relax your whole body
 
I've written about Nina in the past
In poems, you will have to ask for
As I keep them in my heart
Those ones, I will never part
 
"Love me, love me, love me
Say you do
Let me fly away
With you..."
 
Those words, stay dear to me
Those, helped me through the recent years
She croons with such love
All those times, when love was rough
 
Listen closely to the song
You will slowly sing along
Like before, I have mentioned
She'll take you to another dimension
 
She takes me away
From stresses of the day
My mind is at ease
Time stands still, almost like...it freezes
 
Take my hand
Then you'll understand
We'll fly oh...so free
Way above the Oak trees
 
You may think I am too dramatic
Her music, I am sure you'll like it
So please...Check her out
Curiousity, is what it's all about
 
You'll like her, you'll see
Through her, you will then see me
Just when, you think you've lost the fight
Play her...close your eyes...and take another flight
